Armidale Official/Associate Dressage
A bit of a delay in the report as we have been having computer problems which hopefully are fixed.

I took Sirius and Gyron into Armidale on the 10th of August for the Official Day. The weather was awful, absolutely freezing and extremely windy. Neither horse (or me) enjoyed this very much.

Gyron won one of the Official Elementary tests with 65% and was 3rd in the other after a few "moments". Sirius  was having a bit of an off day and was spooky in the arenas before settling for his last test winning by a fair margin with over 70%. Hopefully the next Armidale day will have more enjoyable weather!

Grafton Dressage Championships
Another successful show for the KKS team on the weekend!

Kinnordy Sirius on a winning streak won both the Official Preliminary classes, the Associate 1.2 and the overall Official Preliminary Championship! GT Daniro also placed well in both Official Preliminary classes. Kinnordy Gyron took out Champion Associate and Reserve Champion Official Elementary.

A very well run event, with wonderful organizers, prizes and weather!

Gunnedah Dressage Championships
We took a small team to the Gunnedah Championships for a very successful day yesterday. Goron Toron Daniro and Kinnordy Sirius were having their first competition and competing at Preliminary level, whilst Gyron was contesting the Elementary classes.

We were very pleased with the performances of all the horses, all placed well in their respective classes with Kinnordy Sirius (Silky Baby x Genovera - full brother to Kinnordy Serena and our broodmare Kinnordy Sabrina) coming home with Champion Official Preliminary and over 79% in the Preliminary 1.1! Gyron narrowly missed out on winning the Elementary 3.1 by one point and 64% but laid to rest his chances of the Elementary Championship after he managed to "fall out" of the arena somehow in the rein-back after a fantastic start in the Elementary 3.4! Daniro also performed extremely well with good places and impressed with his perfect temperament and paces, with more strength he will be challenging for the championship ribbons.

Success for Kinnordy Rohan
We have received news that Kinnordy Rohan (Freddy) whom we sold earlier this year has been to his first few competitions with his new owner. Already he has scored 72% in an Associate Preliminary. Well done Donna and Freddy!

Sydney CDI***
Well the CDI has come and gone again. Gyron was entered in the 5yo class and performed quite well but received a very ordinary mark which was disappointing. All in all a very good experience for him and bring on the 6yo class in 2009!

RIP Belsafari xx
Shortly after returning from the CDI we had to put down our lovely thoroughbred mare Bella due to very bad colic. After a day long battle she started sliding downhill very quickly and we decided the nicest thing was to put her to sleep. RIP Bella.

World Cup Final 2008
Swen's ex-boss Heiner Engemann with his top horse Aboyeur was placed 3rd overall in the World Cup final yesterday! Congratulations Heiner! Hopefully this means a spot on the German showjumping Team for the Olympics.

Tamworth Dressage Club Associate Competition
Kinnordy Gyron went down to Tamworth for the Associate Dressage competition. He performed quite credibly and placed 2nd in the Elementary with 65.9% and won the Novice with 77.6%.

Armidale Riding Club Associate Competition
Well finally we had our first competition again since EI! It was great to get out again. We only had Kinnordy Gyron entered and he won the Novice 2.2 with 79.6% and the Elementary 3.1 with 67.57%, so quite a pleasing result!

Especially pleasing was to see our recently sold Wolfram out with his new owner Jason Andrews. They both went very well together and placed in all classes entered. Well Done Jason and Wolfy!

Brief Update
End of season scans show no new pregnancy's for this year so lets all hope for a more successful 2008/9 breeding season that will not have such terrible setbacks like EI!

Good news however is that Kinnordy Rohan has found a wonderful new home in Sydney. He will be leaving soon and we wish his new owner all the best of luck with this lovely boy.

Successful Relatives
Kinnordy Gyron's full sister Kinnordy Glogau recently won Champion Preliminary at the NZ National Championships! Congratulations to Glogau and her rider Julie Brougham. Also Springwood Rococo (Regardez Moi x Sayonara) a 3/4 sister in blood to our broodmare Ramona recently won the 4yo class at the Clarendon Young Horse Qualifier.

Good News!
One more pregnancy for the year, well half really as it is in partnership. Ellie a lovely Richmeed Medallion mare owned by
Sandon Grove has a positive pregnancy to Riverdance (imp).

Wolfy (Kinnordy Wolfram) has been sold to a top home locally. We are sure he will be treated royally and quite spoilt! Tadpole a very cute Arabian pony cross has also been sold to a great home locally. Hopefully we see them both out and about with their new owners soon.

Latest Happenings at KKS
The most exciting news is that Armidale has been declared a White Zone which makes life much more bearable. Training days at the local clubs will shortly resume and hopefully competitions will start again in a few months.

Other news is that Swen has finally found a suitable long-term dressage partner. The tall (17.1hh+) mare Fleur de Mimosa will be making the trip down to KKS soon. She is an impressive horse by the influential sire Flemmingh out of a Weltmeyer mare, so lots of International Grand Prix genetics there!

10th February 2008

End in sight...
Finally things are starting to look up since the awful EI outbreak. Our area is looking like it will be in a green zone by early February. Hopefully we will all be out and about competing soon!

The breeding season has been a bit poor for us this year. With the very late arrival of the mares back home in December due to the movement restrictions we have had very little opportunity for breeding. Good news however is that our highly prized young mare Ramona has been tested positive to Danzante (De Niro x Weltmeyer) This very exciting cross combines the three most prominent international dressage sires of the last decade in Rubinstein, Donnerhall and Weltmeyer.

20th November 2007
There is not much news to report at the moment. There has been good rain in the last month and all the horses are looking very happy with grass up to their knees.

All horses have finally recovered from a mystery virus and are returning to work. They all also have now received their second vaccination for EI.

12th October 2007
All our horses have had their first vaccination for EI. Another injection is expected in the next 2-4 weeks.

24th September 2007
Armidale has its first case of confirmed EI. Hopefully the wind does not blow it in our direction!

6th September 2007
No Official news but the properties surrounding Armidale have apparently been cleared for EI. Latest news is a property near Walcha has been confirmed with the virus and is now under quarantine.

3rd September 2007
Currently we are still EI free but several property's around Armidale have been precautionally quarantined.

12th August 2007
Kinnordy Gyron was the winner of the Armidale 5yo Young Horse Qualifier with a score of 73.2%.

13th August 2007
Swen's ex-boss, Heiner Engemann, is 1st Reserve for the mighty German team for the 2007 European Showjumping Championships! Heiner ended up missing out on a team spot but won the Grand Prix of Mannheim on Aboyeur.

June 2007
Kinnordy Gyron was Champion Preliminary at the 2007 Toowoomba Dressage Championships! He was 1st and 3rd in his Preliminary tests with 70.2% and 65.4%. He also placed 3rd and 4th in his Novice tests with 68.0% and 68.8%. A fitting result for his last Preliminary outing to win a championship rug!
